A Ride For The Wounded is Proud to be a Partner of the VMAP Program started by AMVETS Post 181’s Travis Merritt and his team. We hope to have a long and productive relationship with AMVETS Post 181 and deliver many more chairs to our Veterans and their families. In 2016 A Ride For The Wounded raised $21,000.00 and worked with the AMVETS Post 181 to supply 3 TrackChairs that are available to be borrowed at no cost to the Veteran. Missouri Conservation at Parma Woods has the chairs and all it takes is a phone call to reserve one. You can learn more about Missouri Department of Conservation here.
The aim and purpose of this program is to help mobility-challenged veterans and their close relatives (handled on a case by case basis) the ability to regain their mobility at no cost to them. Through this program, we take gently used mobility chairs and fixes them as needed through the generous tax-deductible donations of our community.
The cost of a new mobility chair is a burden most veterans can’t afford and will continue to struggle without it. Studies have shown that the loss of mobility causes depression and often exacerbates service-connected conditions.
By your tax-deductible monetary donation or by donating your gently used chair, you’ll help give a veteran back the freedom that they once had.
If you request or donate a chair please tell them A Ride For The Wounded referred you.
